I was working as a Human Resources Manager when I became interested in NLP and Hypnotherapy. I attended an Introduction to NLP course and then attended an Anthony Robbins Seminar at Cardiff Arena. I was amazed at the changes that can occur through the power of suggestion. On the first night in Cardiff I and two thousand others walked on hot coals having earlier received suggestions through a 'closed eye proceedure' (hypnosis). This was a way of showing us how fear can be overcome through the power of our own minds.
I decided that hypnotherapy was something I wanted to do for a career and I completed my Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis through the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (at the UCE Birmingham) in 2001. I trained under the supervision of Professor Ursula James, who has appeared on TV and radio shows and last year was appointed Visiting Professor of Clinical Hypnosis at Robert Gordon University. I was also fortunate to receive training from Peter Mabbutt who is the Clinical Hypnotherapist for Guy's Hospital and St. Thomas' Hospital.
I established my own practice thirteen years ago in Sutton Coldfield, then Louise Smith Clinical Hypnosis, I provide a caring, individual approach to hypnotherapy for private and corporate funded clients for a wide variety of issues.
