Leanne Langlois

BA (Hons), BSc (Dual Hons) DPhil, MBAcC

My decision to train as an acupuncturist came after experiencing first hand the benefits of this system of medicine. I have found acupuncture to be a wonderful, non-invasive and safe form of medicine which allows me to care for each patient as a unique individual that I can help on the road to increased health and well being.

Good health is not just the absence of pain or disease.  Traditional acupuncture works to maintain the body’s equilibrium by focusing on all aspects of wellbeing; physical, mental and emotional.

I have a Licentiate in Acupuncture and a First Class BA (Hons) degree from the College of Traditional Acupuncture near Warwick. I also hold both a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc with Hons) from the University of Sheffield and PhD in Physiology from Oxford University.

I practise Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, which stands alone from all other styles. It can trace its roots to traditional Chinese texts over 2000 years ago, while still being relevant in our modern world.

This style of acupuncture is different to other schools of thought, in that your symptoms are simply seen as alarm bells of distress  - the body’s way of signalling to us that something is wrong. Rather than try to silence a symptom, I seek to find the cause.

The aim of treatment is to stimulate the body’s own responses allowing healing to take place as far as nature will allow. Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition, as well as your symptoms. This approach can lead to a more permanent resolution of your problems.

Leanne has been privileged to have been asked to support with a variety of problems from anxiety, stress and depression to back pain and sleep problems. She has also been invited onto journeys to support fertility, pregnancy and postpartum. More information, testimonials and contact details can be found on her website www.yourtruenorth.co.uk.

After an initial in depth discussion, a treatment plan will be formulated with you. Often a course of treatments is required to bring you and your body back into balance and help resolve your problems. You may then find that regular top-ups will then help to keep symptoms at bay.

As each person is unique your response to treatment will be individual. You may respond quickly noticing immediate improvements, or you may take a little longer to feel any benefit. Longer standing problems will generally take longer to heal than more recent ones.

Frequency and number of sessions depend on your individual condition. Some change is usually felt after five treatments, although occasionally only one or two treatments are required. Some patients need treatment over several months, or long-term for chronic conditions or simply to maintain good health.

Leanne is available at the Wishing Well every Wednesday: 1-9pm.
